I was watching the apprentice a while back and there was a lot of talk of motivation and it got me thinking.
I am a very motivated individual and it got me wondering to how I became this person and what drives me on each day.
When I was a young lad I had the world at my feet, I was playing for Manchester United, I was representing my County and I was Sportsman of the year in School. I had it all and I felt like I had a purpose in life, it felt great.
Then, at the age of 21 my world came crashing down, it was all gone.
I was no longer a Manchester United Player, I had split up with my partner and I was just an ordinary guy going to work all week and getting drunk with my friends at the weekend.
Everywhere I went people would say to me "I can't believe you never made it at United" and it really hurt, I never shown my feelings in public, but believe me when the doors were shut I was a mess.
I would think all sorts, how could this have happened? Should I have joined another club where I would have got more opportunities? What do I do now?
I was a mess for a good 12 months, was piling on weight due to the alcohol and kebabs after a night out on the booze and I had the mentality of "let’s live for the weekend"
So what changed for me? My change was due to a comment an ex partner said to me many years ago "I hope your son doesn't grow up to be like you, your just a Postman"
By the way, yes I was a Postman and it was one of the best jobs I ever had, loved it.
That comment hurt and I thought "I’ll show you" and ever since that day I have worked hard and achieved most things because I wanted my son to be proud of me.
The last ten years have shown me that nothing is impossible.
I remember a school teacher saying to me in school "there is no such word as can't" and she was right.
Nothing is impossible in life and anything you want is achievable.
There may be many of you reading this right now and sat there thinking "I really want to change".
My reply to that is "everyone can change if you have the motivation and desire to do so".
I have had so many transformation success stories over the last 4 years and the one thing they all had in common was the determination to change.
Everyone gets one life, you are the creator of your own story so be the best you can be in life, have no regrets and live your life feeling confident and happy.
To conclude, we all need a trigger and a motivation in life, whether it is having the perfect body, finding the dream job or just living the life you have always dreamed, if I can do it then so can you.
Find your own trigger and use this to achieve your goals.
P.S If any of you are stuck in a rut and would like my advice to kick start your journey, please give me a shout and I will help you the best I can 🙂
